The science behind breast massage

 

Self Breast massage is the super highway to deep relaxation. When you massage your breasts in a certain way, you secrete the hormone oxytocin - the bonding chemical that induces more trust, relaxation, and connection. Oxytocin gives you that melting "ahhhhh" feeling, like you are slipping into the bath at the end of a busy day. Why breast self-care is important

 

In the East, the concepts of proactively massaging one's breast to prevent disease and improve pleasure has been around for thousands of years. Taoist Chinese and Ayurvedic Indian medical texts suggest, for example, that women rub their breasts until they are warm to stimulation and balance the energetic pathways (meridians) that run through the chest area.

When I lived in Japan, one of my Taosit Yoga teachers, Daisy Lee, introduced me to Breast Massage for Breast and Ovarian Health. And since that day, nearly 16 years ago now, I have been on a crusade to know as much as I can about how we women can proactively approach breast health and improve their sexual pleasure.

Why am I so passionate this ?

There are many education campaigns teaching women how to check for cancer symptoms, but few resources teaching women how to improve breast health, love their breasts, and harness the true gifts of these organs.

I'm determined to shift the way women think about their breasts and their body.

We can do more than just a once a month breast self exam (BSE). We can do regualr self care rituals that improve our breast health and stress levels.

Hi - I'm Shivani. 

I'm a single mother to an 8 year old son, massage therapist, and yoga teacher trainer with 20+ years experience.

I specialize in women's holistic health and trained in Japan (where I lived for 11 years), China, India, and Bali.

Many of my family members, friends, colleagues, and clients have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I've seen the pain, fear, and sickness that comes with this diagnosis. My passion is to help women protect themselves by being health aware, and helping women find confidence and pleasure in their bodies through enhancing body love.

I used to loathe my breasts. Before I gave birth they were always swollen and sore during my period. After I gave birth, and a 18 months of breastfeeding, they halved in size and felt saggy. 

But through the self massage and meditation rituals in NOURISH I've learnt to accept and love my breasts, along with my whole body. I've learnt to understand the connections between my ovaries, uterus and breasts and how to use nutrition for breast health.
